Steps to clean out a desktop computer
1. Complete a proper shutdown and unplug the cables from the tower
2. On the back of the tower, remove the screws if there are any
- Some towers simply have a lever to open one side
3. Slide the side of the tower off
4. Take the tower outside as there may be a considerable amount of dust
5. Blow compressed air from a shop vac into the tower removing all the dust (Be careful to blow out the areas around the fans but not high enough to damage the fans)
Steps to clean out a laptop computer
1. Complete a proper shutdown
2. Unplug any cables
3. Blow compressed air from a can or a shop vac into each vent opening on the bottom and sides of the laptop removing all the dust
